TRUTH OR DARE

1) Post your characters, one per comment.
2) Comment around ICly asking other characters "truth or dare?"
3) Truth is self-explanatory; dares should involve tagging out to another character's top level somehow ("Insult someone you find terrifying", "Tell someone you think is hot one thing you find sexy about them", "Strike up a conversation using the most awkward non-sequitur you can come up with", etc.)

That's a good answer.

[ She's not lying. "It depends" is the best answer he could give to a question like this. A flat "yes" or "no" would both have the potential for disaster in different ways. ]

Sometimes addicts lie though. About how bad it is. How much danger they're in. But you can't get mad at them. It's not their fault. The addiction makes them do it, so it's like, they can't control it.

[ Ugh. This is depressing. ]

Hey, anyway, you get to ask me now, right?

Yeah, sometimes addicts lie. Sometimes non-addicts lie. All you can do is run damage control to the best of your ability.

[ He's never really met an addict in real life, but he reads a lot about medicine and chemistry, and it's not like he's never watched TV or anything. ]

Right. So, truth or dare?

No. You don't get it. Addicts don't just lie, and they don't lie like non-addicts do. When somebody is really addicted... it's just different from normal lying. They will say anything to get what they're addicted to, and they're convincing, because they don't always know they're lying. They believe what they're saying, in the moment, but that doesn't mean it's true.

Like, I hate to break it to you, but there's some things you can't learn from books, Science Guy. There's some things you can only learn by going through it, or knowing somebody who's been through it.

[ Maddy seems mildly irritated and a little frustrated. She can already tell he's never met an addict in real life by the way he's talking about it. Maddy has dealt with at least three, a drug addicted friend and two alcoholics. It's not the kind of thing medical books really prepare you for, and it is definitely not like on TV.

Fortunately, the game seems to make her forget her frustrations, and she brightens. ]

Dare! [ She's curious to see what he comes up with! ]
