Look, I wasn't there for anything but his death so I don't know, but the poet was fucked up about you when he was at our camp. It wouldn't shock me if taking him prisoner like that was the only way to get him out of the storm.

There's people at that base talking about “criminals” like they're not even human. Squalo’s been accusing me of random shit since day one. I don't know any of you well enough to know where you're drawing the line.

Me, I draw the line at hurting innocent people. I've done some stints as a thief, I've even done some stints as an assassin - including jobs I'm not so proud of now. My hands aren't clean. But drug kingpins? Those are the kinds of people who wreck whole communities. They push their crap onto kids.

Like I said, if he’d got shot in a struggle over the gun, or even like they had a fight and your cop friend drowned him in the river, whatever. I'd be telling him to walk it off. What Cohle did was personal. He wasn't even hurt that bad. Worst he got was from the elephant.
