ANNOUNCEMENT: State of the Game + September Event

Hi everyone! Just a quick couple of announcements at the start of this month - one about the state of the game re: pacing, and one about the upcoming plot for this month.

GAME PACING: OOC/IC RATIO

Admin first: It was agreed a few months ago that we would temporarily shift the game over to a 6:1 OOC/IC date ratio, both to help players and the head mod catch up on search requests. September's events have been planned out with this in mind, but I would like to know if you all want to keep this ratio for longer/permanently, resume the 3:1 OOC/IC ratio that the game started with, or if you have any other pacing suggestions you want to put forward.

Here is a poll where you can vote on your preferred pacing. It will remain open until Friday, 9/8, at 11:59pm EST.

Please put any "I have other ideas" recommendations in the comment below and we'll do a second vote if that one option wins. I will post the results of this poll with the event post on Friday, 9/15.

SEPTEMBER PLOT: 1ST FULL MOON

Speaking of the event...we're coming up on the first full IC month of the game, and things are stirring on the island. Some of you may have noticed some oddities in recent search requests post-storm, and those will continue to get Weirder until the full moon rises.

This event will involve two extremely dangerous entities. One of them will appear in Tile VII and another will appear in Tile X. There will be other peripheral consequences of the event in other tiles - some of which are already happening - but if you want to opt out of anything that could be immediately severely damaging or fatal, I would recommend moving your characters out of those tiles before IC Morning 028.

Similarly, if you're interested in actively engaging with these entities, this is a good place to coordinate meeting up and battle strategies! A few hints to plan for:
  • They are many.
  • They are hungry.
  • They must get to the ocean at all costs.

Hope that helps!! Feel free to ask any other questions below.

Expanding on my vote: while I think it would be good to return to 3:1 eventually so that IC time doesn't drag out too long, I'm not sure it's time for that just yet. The searches progress quicker now, I think, but there's still some delay/I don't think everyone is caught up. We could also possibly experiment with options in between, like 4:1 or 5:1.

this is pretty much exactly what I was about to write, so +1!

I agree with this! I think returning to 3:1 should be the goal but I'm personally still lagging behind, so I'd prefer it be a gradual shift. This could either be a change to 4:1, etc., or maybe sticking with 6:1 through this month's event and afterwards seeing how everyone's doing and switching back to 3:1 if most people are caught up.

If we do end up sticking with 6:1 permanently, my suggestion would be to consider making events bimonthly instead of monthly. That way there's more IC time between events, the same amount as you'd get between events if you were on 3:1 pacing. I hope that makes sense?

Of course if everyone else prefers monthly events even at 6:1 pacing then that's cool too lol. Just a thought!

I'm totally fine for bi-monthly events tbh, but I'm also chronically a few IC days behind and I feel like I'm not catching up.

So I think that 3:1 might be too fast anyway but this is a really good point.
